True, Terry, but clearly there must have been older (less modern) forms
of the metric system comprised of metric units, e.g. the system of cgs
units, esu, emu, or Gaussian units.

But, Terry, neither 1. nor 2. exclude non-SI units as metric units
in older groups of less modern metric units!
