The following is my correspondence with NASA: I wrote: I like to read your website and learn about NASA projects but I do not understand the units of measurement that you use in your country. Remember that the web can be read anywhere in the world. That is what is nice about it. But the rest of the world is metric. Please can you state metric measurements. In order to try to tell you, I went back to the page: www.sti.nasa.gov and typed 'pounds' into the search field. It came up with 65 pages. Many of them talk about something in pounds but do not tell me what that is in kilograms. The same happens when you try it with other American units such as 'Fahrenheit', 'feet', 'inch', 'miles' etc etc. I remember that I was looking at your spinoff documents where this problem exists. It applies to all issues, but your 2002 version is here: http://www.sti.nasa.gov/tto/spinoff2002/index1.html I have similar problems at other NASA websites. To take one at random, you can do similar searches at: http://science.nasa.gov/ and see articles like this one: http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2002/26sept%5Fgoosebumps.htm I know that NASA treats this as an important issue. Hopefully much of the science being discussed is actually done in metric units anyway. NASA does better than most American web sites, but there are still many pages put on the web where the writer is thinking only of these local units and does not put metric ones. I am sure that there are many people like me who are outside America and want to understand what NASA does.
