I don't have too much of a problem with the topic itself. Anyone can use kiloseconds, gigaseconds etc right now and I can imagine software timers using those units. I don't mind people *occasionally* discussing whacky ideas that go beyond even that.
There are things on this mailing list that I classify as 'push' (i.e. they make me want to leave) or 'pull' (they make me want to stay). The frequency of the posts and the low signal to noise ratio irritates me, as it would if any topic became disproportionate. These features have made it a 'push'.
