Hello everyone I have a question. What is the size of A 3 and a 4 paper. Is 8.5 by 11 inch paper only used in Canada and the States? Thanks for your time.
A3 paper size = 297 mm X 420 mm
A4 paper size = 210 mm X 297 mmSo far as I can discover the 8 1/2 X 11 in. standard dates from 1921 when a Committee on the Simplication of Paper Sizes was appointed by President Hoover to work with the Bureau of Standards. I do not know of any other countries than the U.S.A. and Canadaa that use this size.
At the same time the Director of the Budget appointed the inter-agency Permanent Conference on Printing that established 8 X 10 1/2 inches as the standard for U.S. Government letterheads.
The A-series of sizes was first known as the DIN sizes (Deutsche Industrie Normen) and were adopted after the first World War. They are now known as the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) sizews.
