It does not really matter who he is. He didn't like something that you did.
He then investigated you to see what other changes you had made and
targetted those too.

The strength and weakness of the community is that it is self censoring and
self repairing. Imagine if one vandal managed to delete all references to
metric units or put a swearword on every page, the many people in the
community would be able to revert it all.

The answer is to welcome the lesson you have learnt. I have experienced the
same sort of thing in the past. Be thankful to him. Do the indisputable
uncontroversial changes first. It is not a closed shop of metric purists, it
is more like usenet where diplomacy, persuasion and reputation count highly.

>My changes appear to be still intact in the history.
>I wonder if what would happen if you made the changes,
>if they would stay,

It is a hypothetical question - I won't do it. Try editing something else
and be less controversial.

>otherwise I re-edit in a few days with your suggestions.

If you get into an undo-redo cycle, you will lose. You will find yourself
banned from making edits. Don't do it. Try editing something else and be
less controversial.

Generally, if you are positive that you are right, think about what the
other person objects to and try a form of words that includes their
concerns. It is classic conflict resolution tactic which will help you
understand how you will get on in your future job as your country's
ambassador at the UN. In this case, I strongly advise you to just walk away.

There are 269,262 pages. There are plenty of things in need of simple
uncontroversial changes. For example, look up references to feet and add
metres. Get some early simple successes elsewhere and you will feel good
about it.
