The TABD does consider the metric only rules a trade barrier. Rather then
working to eliminate FFU so that every one is measuring with the same system
so as to prevent errors and accidents, the TABD would rather do it the dumb
way and allow FFU to persist.

They feel they can use "free trade" as a buzz word to get the EU and the
world to use FFU instead of SI or at least accept it along with SI. They do
not consider the fact that two systems is in itself a trade barrier as some
companies whose products are metric are driven away from buying non metric
parts. Trying to make FFU parts fit into metric designs can be costly and
dangerous if not done correctly.

If they are really intent on eliminating trade barriers, then they need to
work very hard to eliminate the remnant of FFU. I would hope that if they
insist anti-FFU rules are a trade barrier, then someone needs to correct
this belief and insist that 2 opposing measurement systems is the greatest
trade barrier of all and once FFU is completely eliminated, then the biggest
trade barrier of all is gone too.
