Here is a copy of the letter I sent on the feedback section of their website:I was in the store and noticed the 473 mL Listerene Whitening mouthwash next to the standard 500 mL Listerene mouthwash in what appeared to be the same sized bottle. To me, selling one of your products labeled in round metric figures and another in round US measures smacks of deceptive marketing strategies. The US is supposed to be moving toward using the metric system. Congress did not mandate when this is to be accomplished, but instead left it up to the market do decide when is best to switch. Well, here is some cold water in the face. I purchased your competitor's products which were all labeled in round metric quantities. The math was simpler and the marketing did not seem so deceptive. These old units are so century-before-last! Since there was a 750 character limit, I had to keep it brief and to the point. Hopefully the last statement plants a seed in the head of the marketers that (at least some members) of the coveted 18-40 demographic (who still have most of their teeth – and care enough to provide feedback) will associate metric measures with “new”, “improved”, “cutting edge” - perceptions consistent with a lot of successful marketing strategies and things labeled in US customary units as “old”, “stale”, and “outdated”. -- Scott Hudnall San Francisco, CA USA From: Daniel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 15 May 2005 21:40:51 -0400 To: "U.S. Metric Association" <[email protected]> Subject: [USMA:32850] RE: Mouthwash Here is a website describing the product http://www.oral-care.com/conaffairs/oral_care23.shtml Questions Call 1-800-223-0182, weekdays, 9am to 5pm (Eastern Time).
