I'm sure this is the case in the Mercedes now as well.

I test drove one today, the display shows MPH only, it is possible to display km/h digitally as well as the odometer display in km. However the outside air temperature is F only, never changes. I was thinking if the rules state "the ability" to display MPH, I could get the primary display in km/h with the secondary display in MPH. Hence the need to look at the rules.

It's very frustrating if you want Metric only, there is a general assumption that no one wants metric! It's amazing that I can use the metric system and by Federal law "no contract or dealing can be deemed invalid or liable to objection". Yet it's almost impossible to get metric.

Mike

I've been Googling for the relevant Federal documentation on speedometer
displays. I remember it can have MPH or km/h & MPH. It seems some
manufacturers are now making the former only. Mercedes is an example
where they used to have both now have only MPH on the display. I'm
adamant that I will not buy a vehicle unless it has km/h as the
primary display, so I'm trying to find the relevant rules to quote.
I'm sure someone on this list has a web site somewhere that give the
information.
