thinking if the rules state "the ability" to display MPH, I could
get the primary display in km/h with the secondary display in MPH.
Hence the need to look at the rules.
A car displaying km/h as the larger primary numbers on the
speedometer with the mph
in smaller numbers would legally satisfy US safety requirements.
Canadians who
have moved to the US are not required to modify their cars' dual unit
speedometers to
make the MPH the larger numbers.
