This is why I say that the average speed limit whenever possible should be at least 120km/h. I know in New Zealand the top is 100km/h but that's just to incredibly slow. Even in a smaller vehicle I'd want to drive at least 120km/h when not on city roads.
Most cars can handle it and it makes those long distance six hour drives go much much faster :) Mike On 6/2/07, Stephen Humphreys <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Yes I was aware that it used to be that way - I just thought it strange that there was serious thought of putting it *back* to that way, especially in todays cars that can cruise at low revs doing 90 (mph). Most cars can achieve 55 in first gear! >From: Stephen Gallagher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >CC: "U.S. Metric Association" <[email protected]> >Subject: Re: [USMA:38816] Re: Reduced speed limits >Date: Sat, 2 Jun 2007 12:39:48 -0400 > > >On 1-Jun-07, at 11:47 , Stephen Humphreys wrote: > >>Is that a serious suggestion (I mean the limit, not the measurement >>system thing)? >>55 mph as an "absolute max" across the USA? >>Surely that would be crippling.
