Some Euro "extremists" in the UK now refer to the EU flag as "The Union Flag". Fortunately these people are in limited supply ;-)

That's strange, Martin.

I was born and raised in England (left when I was almost 22) and was taught,
throughout elementary school, to call it the Union Jack. (The subject never
came up in high school or later.) In fact, I never heard it referred to as
the "Union Flag."

However, on doing a Google search, I see you are right. For that, thank you.

Does IKEA advertise its Swedish origin in the US? For example, in the UK
IKEA stores fly the Swedish flag along the Union flag. [For the benefit of
US readers, the "Union Jack" is only ever flown from a ship or boat. The
self-same flag, when flown on land is called the "Union flag"].

This approach is in contrast to Shell which I believe hides its Dutch origin when marketing their products in the United States (and indeed in many other
countries).
