One of the appendices of the statics book lists sizes of wood, their area moments of inertia, and various other properties. The metric table has sizes of wood which appear to be just the inch sizes in soft metric, complete with actual sizes smaller than nominal sizes. When wood is made in metric dimensions, are actual sizes smaller than nominal sizes?
