Dear All,
I have been invited to do a radio interview with Trevor Chappell for
the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) from 2:45 a.m. till 3:00
a.m. Melbourne time tomorrow morning. The program is called
'Overnights' and it usually good fun as it invites audience
participation.
Trevor and I will take as a theme the early days of the metric system
– specifically its invention and early development. As you may know
the metric system arose out of the 'universal measure' invented by
Bishop John Wilkins in 1668 and he first published his ideas in London
on 1668 April 13. In a sense, today (2010 April 13) is the 342nd
birthday of the metric system.
The 'Overnights' program will be streamed live to the internet and you
can hear it live by going to this page http://www.abc.net.au/
overnights and clicking on LISTEN ON DEMAND in the right hand column.
Or you can go directly to the 'Listen Live' page at http://www.abc.net.au/overnights/listen.htm
To work out the time where you are, you might like to refer to http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=13&month=4&year=2010&hour=2&min=0&sec=0&p1=152
that will give you the time for 2:00 a.m. Melbourne Australia time
and you can find your equivalent from there – then add 45 minutes for
the 2:45 start to the interview.
Cheers,
Pat Naughtin
