With the help of Google, I got to a Levi's Europe page and eventually to a fit
page that is in English, but for Portugal
(Portuguese is the only language I speak besides English).

It clearly shows jeans are sized in inches (waist and leg) but they maintain
fit charts in centimeters for those countries where required.

http://eu.levi.com/en_PT/shop/sizes/chart.html#men/bottoms

Obviously they are "dual" and will use what suits them by market.  "If you
don't like inches, we will pretend they are just meaningless size numbers (like
women's clothing), and tell you how they fit in centimeters."

Dear Scott,

Maybe you're right, but maybe someone at Levi recognises the advantages of the
cost savings made possible by using the simplicity of the metric system inside
the factory and, (sadly) also the marketing advantages of using a different
group of measurements to sell jeans to western cowboys and their wannabee
followers.

However, just in case you're right and I'm wrong, don't remove the bumper
sticker!

Dear All,

This is interesting (my emphasis):

Levi's® believes that it is important to take action because we're part of an
industry that depends on water. An average pair of Levi's® jeans needs 42
liters of water to be dyed, washed, and finished. Once we take them home we use
even more water caring for our jeans using 21 liters every time we wash. That's
4 times the amount of water someone in a developing country might use for an
entire day's drinking, cleaning, cooking, and washing combined.
