Do you mean it is "mixed base?" The ares are only the residue from an integer 
number of hectares? And the centiares (which are square meters, if that's what 
they are) are residue from integer ares? (I've never seen anyone use centiares, 
so I don't know whether you keep or drop the "i", centares?  It might get 
confused with a centaur.)

That is pretty shocking usage from the country that claims to have brought the 
metric system.

I'm looking at buying a piece of property in France. I notice on the documents 
that they list the area as Hectares (ha) ares (a) and ca which I'm thinking are 
centiare? Anyone on this list have any idea if this is correct.

On another note, I'm looking for someone to translate a 15 page document into 
English, I'm willing to pay for the service.
