Consult Wikipedia - an excellent source (OK, I rewrote the article on hectares).
For the records ha and ares are quite normal. Centiares (square metres) have been known to be used - when I has sorting out the Wikipedia article, somebody mentioned (unreferenced) that in some (unspecified) users would write "3 hectares, 25 ares and 45 centiares", so you might be right. If this is the case, I would appreciate it if you could let me see a website where such text is displayed - at least I could get Wikipedia up to date (even if the French lawyers are as archaic as lawyers elsewhere in the world). -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Michael Payne Sent: 21 June 2011 12:58 To: U.S. Metric Association Subject: [USMA:50701] Land area France I'm looking at buying a piece of property in France. I notice on the documents that they list the area as Hectares (ha) ares (a) and ca which I'm thinking are centiare? Anyone on this list have any idea if this is correct. On another note, I'm looking for someone to translate a 15 page document into English, I'm willing to pay for the service. Mike Payne
