Chemists traditionally used centimeter-gram-second (cgs) units. I can only hope Dr. May will vigorously promote SI, rather than cling to cgs units with its dynes, ergs esu, emu, and the other out-dated metric units associated with the cgs. Secretary Pritzker of the Department of Commerce was a business woman, not a scientist, but the global competition of world trade should be enough to convince her to promote SI!
