Your goal is notable and a good cause however the way you wrote the petition it not very professional. It uses offensive language and tries to demean the current US Customary system instead of explaining why it should not be used. You will get more people to join the cause with an intelligent coherent argument instead of using terms like “Medieval units” or the “THE STUPID OBSCURANTIST FOOT/POUND” (the ALL CAPS further diminishes credibility of the petition).
Although I would love to see metric only education in our schools, students need to be just as versed in US Customary units. Unfortunately that is the reality of the US today, most of our student’s will still grow up in a society that requires knowledge of US Customary in order to function in our society. I also believe achieving the goals of your petition are not realistic. Better to petition to accelerate the conversion of our country to metric where possible and prudent (i.e. one step at a time) and further, petition to prioritize the teaching of SI over US Customary.
