Well, for one, the Catalyst has two integrated gigabit ports. Plus you pay a lot for the Cisco name. Whether that's justified or not, is up to you. We picked up a CNet Powerswitch 2402g[1] for ~$400 (I didn't cut the check). It's 24 port with 2 gigabit and a serial console. Works great.
