Ritchie,
I doubt this modification will cause any damage at all and likely
nothing will really have to be done, (I assume you are talking about
the 8 x 1 1/4 inch tube). You/he should take a good look at all the
plugs after riding this arrangement a few miles .... If they are
getting too white then you need to put a washer under the needles ...
If they stay too white afterwards then your friend may need to
consider putting a jet kit in.
