Peter,
As Charles has mentioned .... European and Japanese models are limited
to 100 HP (PS) because they have no V-Boost. I am pretty sure they get
the taller rear end in the bargain, (ten tooth pinion as opposed to
nine). I swear though that I saw somewhere that there was some other
hocus-pocus going on and I believe it was on Japanese models ...
employing a rev-limiter ... which lives in the headlight shell.
Exactrep sells an "electronic de-restriction kit" for Japanese models
to remove this obstacle and it isn't that expensive so I suspect that
the ignitors in these bikes are the usual, (have an output pin for
V-Boost control .. even if it isn't used), and the rev-limiter is a
stand alone device. I may be dreaming but I think I also saw on a
Japanese site a picture of a stock exhaust with a one inch exit hole
as opposed to the usual 1 1/4 inch. It appeared that their bikes were
being delivered stock with the smaller tube as well.
