I haven't used the platinum plugs on the Max, since I couldn't get them locally last time I changed the plugs, (I asked around at several of the local sources.), but I have used them on several cars over the years. The biggest selling point for platinum plugs is their resistance to fouling. They tend to require much longer service intervals and, in my opinion, are more than worth the extra money since you don't have to replace them as often. In fact, one of the car manufacturers (can't remember which one) is now supplying them in new cars with a 100,000 mile recommended change rate.
