Steve,
This is terrible ... I guess the 880 really doesn't fit any better
than an 88 ... I have seen one with 1/16-1/8 on it and another where
the owner told me he had to have the tire shaved on the drive side ...
so I don't know what is going on there... This might be the time to go
ahead and have your swingarm trimmed on that side ... and make sure it
is straight in the process, (there is material that can go). If you
did shave the washer on the right side you would have to make up the
difference at the drive hub and not on the washer at the outside of
the drive housing, (left side). I have heard of people doing this ..
(putting a spacer in front of the drive hub where it seats in the rear
end), but this is flaky business to say the least ... and of course ..
even though there is a lot of teeth depth there to play with .. you
are in fact pushing the drive hub out of the rear end when you do this
........ IMHO .. I would shave the tire ... mark the point of contact
on the swing arm and take it to a welder to grind off and close the
resultant openings ... or dump the tire ..... Take a look at the
little "pucker" where the arm is indented ... there is an easy 1/8 to
1/4 of an inch to be had without having to get serious .......
