Robert,
"Usually" .... you will find the last 6 digits of the engine number
will match the last 6 digits of the VIN on a Vmax .. and the three
letter model prefix of the engine number will match positions 4-6 of
the VIN ... If not ... they probably didn't really start life on the
same bike, (but may have had an engine block swap before being sold
etc .. thus it is not 100% true to say that a mis-match was the result
of a post delivery swap .... but you wouldn't be wrong very often)
