I recently bought a Nolan N100 Trend. I don't know what the difference
between the two models is, but I got the Classic, since I wanted pure white
so I could have a custom paint job done on it, since they don't make a white
Trend.
It's a great helmet and would encourage anyone to buy one as well.
The ventilation systems works well. It uses a venturi effect to pull air
out of the top of the helmet. It also has a vent in the chinbar. If that's
not enough, you can crack the visor open a notch of two. The whole chinbar
will flip up, but if it is locked in, it takes two hands to release both
latches (thumbs underneath pushing tabs forward). At stoplights I generally
just flip up the visor, instead of the whole chinbar. I live in Tucson, AZ
and it's already been quite warm (upper 90s F) and I've found this works
well.
The helmet doesn't come with D-Rings, it comes with a slick quick-release
system already.
I bought mine at http://www.mawonline.com/ for what seemed to be the best
price. Their website is cheesy and their service sucks, but my buds who
have been using them for a while like their prices. I won't buy anything
else from them tho, because they have some definate problems providing
courteous service. When I bought the helmet from them, I forgot to order a
dark shield as well, so I had to place a second order. Although they had
the best price on the shield, (5-8 bux cheaper than
http://www.denniskirk.com) they were charging $14 for shipping/handling of a
part wieghing less than a pound and wouldn't make an adjustment). Needless
to say, I went to denniskirk.com, who includes shipping/handling in their
price. Sorry for the rant there!
So can we assume from your plans to spend your winnings on a helmet, that
you won't be splitting it with your VMax pals? ;)

how does the Nolan compare in weight and quality?
