I started Mr. Max after letting him sit for a month. Well, a steady stream of gas
came pouring out of the left side of the "gas tank" cover. I could also hear the fuel
pump running at a slow rate. The bike fired up but white smoke poured from the
exhaust. I removed the tank cover and saw gas coming from the top "driver's" side
vent tube where the air intake wish bone takes in air. Also my exhaust gases were
hitting the side of my jeep. I noticed that wet gas was condensing on the surface of
the jeep fender and dripping to the floor. All in 20 seconds. I pulled the air box
and noticed that the farward driver's side carb was very "wet". I perceeded to "tap"
this carb body with the handle of a screw driver. One minute after the begining of
this event, I had a gallon of gas on the floor of my shop, the side of my jeep
dripping with gas, and now Mr Max puring fine. I have started and gone on short trips
three times since, without having it happen again. He is a 99 Max w!
ith 9,000 miles. What do you guys think happened and what can I do to stop it from
happening again.
