I need you all to help out if you would. I am sick over this and just am
hoping that there's an explanation that doesn't total my engine.
I'm riding home from work, coming out of the parking garage - there's a
hesitation like I'm running low on gas and need to switch to reserve (even
though the light hadn't come on and I had ~20 miles before I should need it.
Something just feels wrong - just hesitant, and I get about 6 miles up the
road and *pow* dies...completely, I roll off the road and the console lights
are off, everything is dead. After monkeying with all the switches, the
neutral light comes on and I try to start it....*click click*.
So I figured the battery was dead (we all know how these things have
charging problems) and so I have it put on a flatbed and towed home. After
two hours I get it home in the garage, and try to crank him
over.......starts to roll over - after two cranks I hear a *clang* and it
freezes
I buy a new battery, charge it up, put it in and try to crank it. CLICK.
Won't even turn over, although I check it with an OHM meter and it's got a
good charge. The lights dim, but the starter isn't moving.
So the last thing I try is to put it in 1st gear then 5th and, with it on
the center stand, I try to turn the engine over by pulling on the wheel.
Nothing, I can't budge it - I'm pretty good size and tried it on my Magna
and was able to do it with no problem.
I'm afraid I locked the motor up somehow.
Last details: 1) Oil was correct level and clean. 2) I was running at
about 4000rpms at 25mps (in traffic) with very little load. And it's only
15k miles down.
