I don't intend to start a debate on the use of helmets but, in Idaho,
helmets are not mandatory either.  My insurance also has $10,000 for
bodily injury which IS mandatory, whether you wear one or not.  IMHO,
riding a Vmax (or any motorcycle) without a helmet is like flying in a
jet without a canopy.  I simply will not do it.  Aside from going deaf
from the sound of wind and exhaust, one good sized bug or rock in the
face may be enough to end riding for good.
