Andrew,
I just had two mixture screws extracted by a friend who owns a machine
shop. Mine is a second hand 92. It appears that whoever owned it before
me attempted to play with the screws because the brass plugs were gone
when I got it.
The first came out as soon as the left handed bit grabbed. The other had
to be machined out and the threads chased with an identical tap.
All in all it was a good lesson for me because it forced me to pull the
carbs, dismantel them completely and clean them out. This in turn was a
very good learning experience for me. Fortunately I didn't have to
purchase a new throttle body. But I do know where one is available if
needed.
