Well, after 1500 miles of using the 50/15w halogen taillight bulbs, I
decided to check the reflector housing.  Sure enough, there are signs of
melting just above where the bulbs are.  I did not check the wiring
under the seat for signs of thermal wear but, I suspect there may be
some.  Miles in itself is not a good measure of wear.  I suppose that it
may depend on how often the brakes are applied.

I recommend that anyone using these bulbs periodically check the
reflector housing for signs of melting.  Ideally, a metal reflector
insert should reduce the heat transfer but, no one manufactures this
part that I know of.
