I agree that we need to keep this list focused on technical issues. It can
be a huge waste of time to have to go through millions of unrelated emails
to get to the good stuff. But....
There's also something really nice about the camaraderie that is fostered by
the guys teasing each other, talking about their upcoming babies etc.....
Is there a way we can have a non-tech branch to the list?... So that at the
bottom of the postings in addition to the cancel subscription notice there'd
also be a listing for the non-tech list? Anybody who didn't want to be
included in the non-tech mailings could opt out of that list, of course, and
the archives of the tech list wouldn't be clogged with non-tech stuff. In
other words, to have two lists, with cross-pollination. They'd start out
with the same members, but someone could belong to either or both. They'd
both have the subscribe/unsubscribe notices for both lists.
Just an idea. It usually works best to offer an alternative rather than
"Just say NO." I realize that the idea means more work for you, and we all
appreciate the work you put into this list already. Just seems like there's
a good market for another list.
