Charles,
I think I understand what you are saying. Except for a few quickie
horses that can be had with minor exhaust and intake mods, (assuming
you maintain your tune in the process), the factory setup "including"
the Vboost is pretty good. There are several examples where
modifications often take RWHP and driveability in the wrong direction
... I doub't few would contest this.

I also think that many people will get entirely different results from
identical modifications due to other "differences" that may not be
obvious. IMHO these differences are not just be the current stage of
tune either .. it might have a lot to do with operator style and
expectations.

It does appear that there has been "some" advantage on certain
configurations ... at least as low as 4K - 4.5K w/ an open Vboost ....
and I think there must be some other advantages to having it closed at
idle and under 2500 RPM ....... If the thing started opening just
under 4K though it would likely be a real nuisance since we are
turning around 3800 at 55 mph/90 kmh ...... so this may have just been
the factory's way of giving us the benefits on both ends without
having the thing be a pain ...... On the other hand ... if you are
getting near 6K in any gear you are seeking warp drive and well out of
normal cruising, (6K being around 90mph in 5th etc).

This is just speculation on my part ....... but I never cease to be
amazed by what works for some and is unbearable for others ... Of
course it is only fair to acknowledge that stage 7 was never intended
to be the "around town" jet kit. It was intended to go to the 1/4 mile
straight line race track ..... where anything much less that 4K, (3.5K
min), would not even be a consideration.
regards,
campbell

I'm sorry to say that for some unknown reason and after waiting a
few days for all the possible replies from the group, as far as it
goes right now I'm the only Max owner defending the V-boost as
a clever and very well designed system to provide maximum
power out of the Max in all conditions (remember I'm talking
about a standard Max, but I'll go further into saying that
even on a Stage one modified jetting).

I am totally convinced that most of the maxer's that decided
to install a Dynojet S7K noticed right from the beginning that
their original super chunky mid range turned to be a "let's
see how quickly I get the engine over the 6.000 revs to feel
the gutts of my bike". I will once more repeat the theory
and practice of how the system really works (and I'm
hoping that all the brave owners of a max make some
deep thinking and agree on some basics such as these):
