Pasquale,
I must be on the vboost more than I think if your getting 135 mph. I tried
removing the y channel also. It sounded great but, was flat on the lower
rpm's . Thanks to all I really appreciate you guys taking the time to help
non mechanical  types like me.

tom, locate the thermo switch under right scoop(it's the larger of the 2 =
switches), just connect it across the 2 terminals,switch will function =
as normal, when you want to turn fan on for added airflow just flick the =
switch.

I have a 2000 carbon fiber Vmax and after only 1600 miles. My mileage is
between 80 and 100, if I stay out of the vboost. However I didn't buy this
bike for mileage . I going to try your modification for vboost all the time.
After riding just about every kind of bike for the last 40 years, The VMAX
is more fun than anything I know except Sex.  The only problem  I have now
is trying to stop grinning every time  I pass a Harley.

Edgar, something isn't right.  If you're keeping it out of Vboost range,
you should get somewhere around 135 miles before the fuel light comes
on.  After that, you should get at least another 25 miles before you go
dry.

I'm running my '93 with Stage 1, K&N filter and Holeshot 4-1.  If I keep
it out of Vboost range (a rarity, I'll admit), my fuel light doesn't
come on till ~130 miles.  Contrary to what is being said, I always run
92 octane and often add octane boost for a bit more zip.  Perhaps a
lesser grade fuel produces less mileage.  I dunno....

Sorry ...... PFJ is guess is "pilot fuel jet" ... PAJ or PAJ1 is the
"primary pilot air jet", (at the top of the carb), and the PAJ2 is the
"secondary pilot air jet", (located behind the slide rubber). MAJ is
"main air jet" and MFJ is "main fuel jet" .... BFD is "big deal" and
SOL is "out of luck" ... I don't know ... I think I got them all

PAJ1 90 (but think it should be 95)
PAJ2 170
Main 160
Pilot screws out 2 turns
Factory Pro needles on first (leanest) clip
"Y" (or female reproductive organ as my wife calls it) removed

I have a Tourmaster so my settings may not be good for you.  I had the
Hindle (Holeshot) before and my setup was:

PFJ 37.5
PAJ1 100 (california bike)
PAJ2 170
Main 157.5
Pilot screws.....do not remember
Stock needles with one shim
"Y" removed

I have a 2000 Max and average 100 miles to the tank before reserve.  I
started running my vboost full time about 200 mile ago and with normal
riding
still get about 100 miles to the tank.  I can definitely see and feel and
hear my vboost is on full time.
I love the sound with the supertrapps,  it sounds like a high lift cam 327
engine from the mid sixties.  It will suck the gas if you do a lot of
throttle wrapping.  But I am pleasantly surprised that there isnt a lot of
difference in gas mileage with normal riding.  The vboost with supertrapps
is
quite a sound.  I run 12 diffuser discs and have not touched my carb
settings.  I did try removing the Y in the air cleaner a couple of days ago.
The bike ran very flat and unimpressive.  I put the Y back in and gained the
quick response back.  The bike is a little hesitant at 1000 to 2500 rpm.
But by 3000 rpm it is a rocket.  I should set up the idle, but that loping
sound is just awesome.
