Doesn't seem to be real deep. The vandal didn't spend much time but did
enough damage on the top portion. At least he didn't get anywhere else. Not
sure what type of tint you are talking about and if it is easy to remove
when it is time to prepare for the repaint.

While you're waiting to paint/replace the cover, you might want to do like
Vern Hathaway does and cover it with a sheet of press-on automotive tint.
It's an option. How deep are the scratches?
