Mike,
IMHO ... you got rid of the skip/pop, (suspect more of a hesitation
??), because you were running a tad too rich on these needles ... if
you went to the fourth slot you could experience a real "bog" ........
That hesitation off of steady cruise is a sign you are on the warning
track .... (too much needle) ...... If you can "sneak" up on 4-4.5 K
with light throttle input you are not too lean .....

With one "washer" in play you still have a "little" play on the
needles ... they are not completely jammed ..... and will still move
around. If you try to put two on that side of the c-clip they will
jam, (unless you take some other corrective action .. but there is no
point since two washers equals one clip position).
