Big D,
IMHO, you need some professional assistance here for sure, (like a
really good machine shop that has fixed this sort of thing before) ...
carb bodies are expensive. If you ever get them out you can get a
needle kit for each carb .. Yomama part no:12R-14105-00-00 ... pilot
screw set.
You have engine trouble or possibly you are simply are running too
lean for the 7500 RPM problem, (this IS the top end .. the slides are
off duty ..) .. if you reduce your main jet sufficiently you will
experience this "notch" right at 75K, (please don't ask me how I know
this .. sigh ... ). I think your "idle" knock is those two cylinders
not getting any mixture with the plates closed or your carbs are
simply out of sync, (I have experienced this "knock" too after busting
the carb stack apart and then starting the bike up to do a sync ...
the first time I experienced this I shut the engine down right away ..
I though I had dropped something into one of the intakes .......
possibly somebody was twisting the screws on the right side of the
bike and have inadvertently closed the right side throttle plates at
idle ...).
If you want to try to get by while looking for a good place to get
your carbs done ... try blasting the jets at the top of the carb with
compressed air and syncing the carbs ......... It might run well
enough until you can find someone to help you fix this properly, (or
you resell the bike).
good luck,
campbell
