Darin, the manual says to adjust the valves at 25k and  if you would pole
the list pretty much everyone's engine does not need any adjustment even
then.  Wait till at least 25k to do the adjustment.  I suggest to buy a sync
tool for the carbs.  It will cost probably less than a dealer would charge
to do it once and you can do it often.  It is real quick and easy to do and
the bike will benifit from doing it often.  A shop manual would be nice too.
It is less than what they are going to charge you to do the brakes and
covers most maintenance.  All that you have mentioned in you're e's.
