I'm sure there are good quality digital gauges made but most of the $10
varieties that I've seen are very inaccurate.  They are even worse than the
stick type gauges.

The best are the round dial face type (assuming you get a good quality one).
Here's an example of the type I'm talking about:

This particular one is accurate to within 1/4 lb +/-.  If you don't have one
of these, try your local auto parts stores.  They usually have them.
