Group,

I'm pretty sure my fuel pump is shot. I took off last night and the
bike just quit. The pump would make no noise at all when the key was
turned, all the fuses are ok, the pump won't work when I hook it up to
my other Max either. I hooked the pump directly to the battery an
nothing happens. Here's the real problem: I love working on my Max, but
electric stuff is my very weakest point. I'm not good with meters, but I
have lots of spare parts. I have already replaced the bad pump with one
that works on my other Max. My question is, what else, besides a bad
pump would stop a good pump from working? Can I bypass the fuel
(reserve) switch or "jump" it without burning anything up? Could a
faulty fuel level sending unit cause the pump not to work? Can it be
"jumped"? All I really want to do is try to isolate the faulty part so I
can replace it.

Thanks for your help
Vern
