Hi Gary,

Actually, if it is in fact an airflow problem bigger carbs won't help. You
need to get more air flowing under the tank cover from the outside. Although
it won't help much, you could "open up" the right side "scoop". Although I
haven't actually seen it in action, I've heard of others who have made the
scoops into pseudo ram-air devices. Exactrep in the UK markets fiberglass
replacement scoops which aren't too expensive and might be more amenable to
being made "functional" than stock replacements. If your carbs are set up
properly, with appropriate needles, jetting and slide springs, in theory
more available ambient air won't change your mixture.
