Once again the sage continues....
Rio Yamaha got in touch with Yamaha USA. They say that they have heard
of this problem happening in Max's and R-1's. If you go to a synthetic blend
too soon your oil ring will not seat on the bottom of the piston. I went to
Yamaha Race Lube (suggested by the service tech at Team Mister in El Paso) at
700 miles after the break in period. Yamaha USA stated that they did not
believe me! They instruct all of the service tecks to advise customers to
use R4 until the bike has reached 5,000 miles. I am going to try to get in
touch with Yamaha my self tomorrow
