For those lost in A-O-Hell, first, see if you can get a real ISP. I know there
are locales where you have no choice - you have my sympathy. AOL ver. 6 sends
both plain text and HTML-formatted versions of an outgoing message. It does
this with no notification to the sender. you have no control over it. With
Ver. 5 and earlier you should be OK as long as you don't click the "attach"
button. If you are stuck with, or for whatever reason choose AOL ver. 6, you
might try using a web-based mail service. There are literally hundreds of free
providers out there, some even offering POP3 mail accounts. Go to
http://fepg.net/ and pick one. I would give you directions for configuring a
POP3 mail client under AOL, but unfortunately they don't respect their
customers enough to make a POP3 or SMTP server available.
