I'm no expert on brakes, and I certainly wouldn't dispute that
Mario may have a lot more braking skill than I.  (having never
met him, let alone see him brake)

I just know without any uncertainty that my Vmax stops a LOT
better with the R1 brakes I put on it.  It's not even close.
>From what I understand the stock calipers are two-piece, and
they'll flex, meaning that only a certain amount of squeeze 
will make it to the rotor.  Any further squeeze/pressure on the
lever will only make the calipers flex.  The R1 calipers are 
one piece, and won't flex.  So that extra lever pressure will
go right to the rotor.  Man, it stops faster.  

Perhaps it's a reflection of my skill (or lack thereof), but
I'd be inclined to doubt it.
