After clarifying - ES5 dictates that splice should default `deleteCount` to
0 when omitted. ES6, however, dictates that it defaults it to `len -
start`. The ES5 shim is correct here, but it may not be practical for the
es5 shim to shim splice, so that the es6 shim can re-shim it - either way,
that's a discussion for another forum.
