To the question "have you run gclient sync", the response is "no".
gyp is installed by other means than via "gclient sync" in my case.
I'm developing for a packaging system, so having random bits installed by
running
commands which just download and install stuff-de-jour is a no-go, among
other reasons due to lack of consistent reproduceability.
My version of gyp is based on svn-version 1977, which is probably a bit
dated by now. (I wish for tarballs of gyp source, which I've not managed
to find.)
Anyway, I picked up the patch from comment #8 and with that one
applied, v8 version 4.2.14 target ia32.debug compiles cleanly in my case.
(That is: after removing references to two non-existent libc++-related gyp
files from GYPFILES in the top-level Makefile)
