To make sure you really understand the problem: The compiler error was not
related to GCC 4.9 in any way. You got that error because you were using an
incompatible gmock version. If you don't use gclient sync, then you are
basically on your own. It's like using an autoconf based project and
saying "I don't want to run ./configure".
