Note that while Issue 3043 appears to be about inaccuracy, it is actually an example where the cubic spline that used for interpolating between points in the sin table produces results that are worse than computing a 3 term Taylor series for sin. The cost is probably comparable to the cubic spline and has the very nice property that it is provably correct.
