I swear by Fel-Pro Perma-Blue gaskets. You can get these at most auto parts stores. NAPA, Auto-Zone etc... Bobby Gill

I am 75% convinced that the problem is the bent old valve covers. So far two professionals have replaced the gaskets yet the smoke proceeds. I wish one of them would just have told me to get new valve covers.
I would rather invest in new valve covers than try to pound out those old buggers. This has been so frustrating. Today I drove about 15 miles with my interior bonnet open. I could see the smoke emanating from the manifold but it gets pretty murky because the fan is quickly dissipating the smoke.
I'm going to see if I can locate heavy duty valve covers and gaskets for the 351W. If anyone knows a source . . . Thanks, Bob
