What engine do you have in your camper special? The company I worked har a 
Ford camper special with a 400 cu engine, we carefully maintained it.It got 
4mpg when towing a 6500lb boat and on a good day would get 8mpg around town. 
We also had to overhall it eavery 50,000miles.
