Subject: Re: sco unix tape drive malfunction.

Hi,
I used to manage a few SCO Openserver boxes and I had a tape parity error once due to something physically no being perfectly attached along the SCSI bus. Never figured out what the exact item was but re-seating the SCSI card and the cables worked for me. I am assuming there are no SCSI conflicts and that everything is terminated on the bus properly. You may want to check those as well.

If anyone has got any input…would you offer it up please.

I have a tape drive in a sco unix machine…suddenly stopped ejecting the tape and the "activity" light continues to blink even though the backup was not successful.

I'm getting this

%NOTICE: STP: SCSI tape0 device 46/8 OFFLINE

%Parity error

I have recently had scsi card issues…but I'd like to know if I can verify that with an error log…or what error logs I should view to conclude this.

Currently I have my manager believing that it is my fault…people are very strange sometimes.
